The NAND Flash market is tightening again: the logic behind soaring prices.

by AAIT 04 Dec 2025

📈 Current Market Situation
A TrendForce study released on December 1, 2025, indicated that NAND Flash wafer supply tightened further in November, primarily due to the following reasons:

Strong demand for AI applications: Generative AI and high-performance computing drive enterprise-grade SSD orders.

Production capacity is shifting towards high-profit products: Suppliers are concentrating resources on enterprise-level and high-end products, and the production capacity of old processes is being phased out at an accelerated pace.

The supply-demand imbalance has worsened: the average increase in mainstream wafer contract prices has reached 20% to over 60%.

🔍 Product Category Analysis
1Tb TLC: Driven by the continued demand for enterprise-grade SSDs, the price increase was the most significant.

512Gb TLC: Affected by the phasing out of old processes, the monthly increase exceeded 65%, the largest increase among all TLC products.

256Gb TLC: Supply is tight again after the old process was discontinued, and prices continue to rise.

QLC: Strong demand for high-capacity enterprise products and cold storage applications has led to a significant increase in 1Tb QLC contract prices.

MLC: Demand in the industrial control and consumer markets is stable, and average selling prices continue to rise.

⚠️ Risks and Outlook: Suppliers hold pricing power: Short-term wafer supply shortage unlikely to improve.

Price trend continues: December contract prices are expected to continue rising.

Industry impact: Increased costs for enterprise-level solid-state drives and cold storage applications may be passed on to end-product prices.

✍️ Conclusion
The NAND Flash market is entering a new round of price increases, driven by strong demand from AI and enterprise applications, as well as suppliers strategically phasing out older process capacity. Downstream manufacturers and consumers will likely face significant price pressures on storage products in the coming months.
